Question 1

How do I know if a dam is generating water right now?

Accepted Answer

TroutTrack shows a color-coded status for each dam. Green means the dam is off or at low flow. Orange means it's generating. Red means it's spilling or at high flow. Status is updated from hourly generation schedules (SWPA), real-time release data (USACE), and downstream gauge readings.

Question 2

Which dams does TroutTrack track?

Accepted Answer

TroutTrack tracks five tailwater dams across Arkansas and Missouri: Bull Shoals, Norfork, Beaver, Greers Ferry, and Table Rock. These cover the White River, North Fork River, Little Red River, and Lake Taneycomo tailwaters.

Question 3

How long does it take for dam release water to reach downstream fishing spots?

Accepted Answer

Water travel time depends on distance from the dam. TroutTrack uses historical gauge data to calibrate travel times for each downstream access point, so you can see when released water is expected to arrive at your fishing location.

Question 4

Is TroutTrack free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes, TroutTrack is completely free. You can create a free account to save your favorite dams for quick access, but all dam schedules and gauge data are available without signing in.
